Valorant had recently posted an article on the official website about what to expect on the competitive matchmaking front during the 1.02 update patch.
The devs had said that the ranked match system was a work in progress and wanted to make sure they deliver a seamless competitive gameplay experience to the players. The devs emphasized that they have made sure there is balance in the matchmaking procedure among other optimizations and additions.
“We want to create the opportunity for all players to come together and compete at high stakes as a team, with the hope these team-oriented competitive matches will be memorable and rewarding events,” Devs have said.

Game director Joe Ziegler recently announced in a tweet that the devs will have to delay the 1.02 patch. The devs have found a spawn bug in the competitive gameplay. Due to this issue, every once in a while a player can spawn at the opponent team’s spawn point. It goes without saying, that until they fix the bug, the devs cannot launch competitive.
Update: bad news. We are investigating a reported issue in which players can every once in a while spawn in the opposing team's spawn point. We are actively trying to fix this and get it out as fast as possible, but will not turn on competitive until it is fixed.

Even the official Valorant twitter handle has posted a tweet announcing this.
We found another bug that puts competitive at risk, so we're holding off turning on ranked for a while longer. Sorry for the delay, we're working as fast as possible to get a fix and, when we get one, we'll turn ranked on. Predicting a day or two, but nothing confirmed yet.

As for the latest update, the ones who have played it have mixed reviews, mostly about the surrender option.
Comebacks are always possible if you keep it together. The surrender option will definitely increase the number of of games where you get frustrated people that as soon the game is not going their way will vote for surrender and become toxic if everyone else disagrees.
