From being a mathematics teacher to a 3-time Olympia champion, Frank Zane has had an unbelievable bodybuilding journey. Recalling his journey in a 2021 interview, Zane disclosed his secret to building the perfect abs. He also let his fans and viewers in on valuable insights from his training and workout plan.
This was his third interview with Escape Fitness. In this frank conversation with Matthew Januszek, Zane also made some of his newest revelations along many verticals such as his off-season routine and diet.

Newest revelation by Frank Zane about his abs training and bodybuilding journey
“I did a lot of ab work”, Zane admitted. Continuing, Zane made a shocking statement, “I worked up to a thousand reps a day.” This had a positive effect on Zane. “My abs got real real deep, very deep”, he described.
Afterward, the bodybuilding champion also spoke about his efforts to sustain his physique in the off-season. Ruminating on off-season weight gain and his humane weaknesses around that time, he focused the discussion by giving his strong disapproval of eating junk food. Having a strong work and life ethic helped Zane to remain in good shape for the entire year.

Further, the bodybuilding champion shed light on his monthly plans for training. “October, September, and August were my all-out months of training”, he recalled. Before these months, Zane outlined that his goal was to develop strength and size. Zane later went on to say that in the off-season months like December, he tried to keep in shape and focused on improving his weaknesses. He also added that his endeavor was “not to get fat in the off-season.”
Zane’s startling statements about his diet
Zane once remarked that he consumed 30 amino acid tablets or more while preparing for bodybuilding competitions. He reasoned that it was difficult to get 200 grams of protein every day. Continuing, he disclosed, “I still take eight or nine amino acid tablets a day.” This shows his dedication to fulfilling his dietary requirements.
