Winning this one shall bring massive joy to the Oklahoma team. And we see the team inching closer, every moment. Oklahoma state stands at 137.5 after Session II, leading the second-place Northern Iowa by 17 points. And with that, the Oklahoma state has sent six wrestlers into the finals of the 2025 BIG 12 Wrestling Championships.

A proud moment for the coach, David Taylor indeed. We can sense phenomenal leadership right there! Given that, the six finalists that are going to make it or break it at the championship chase, are Troy Spratley (125 pounds), Tagen Jamison (141), Dean Hamiti Jr. (174), Dustin Plott (184), Luke Surber (197), and Wyatt Hendrickson (heavyweight).

But beyond their individual wins, this tournament can be seen as the stepping stone toward the NCAA Championships. Nine cowboys have already won their automatic bids. This goes to show that the Oklahoma State is asserting dominance on the mat at the Big 12 conference. This also boosts their seeding and confidence entering the national tournament. With their history of producing champions, fans have high expectations from the OSU.

But all those wins didn’t come without hurdles! Their current season standing at 13 wins and 1 loss was a tough confrontation for the Cowboys. Losing it to Iowa Hawkeyes with a score of 16-21. But champions take these losses as their lessons! David Taylor hailed his team with an empowering note, celebrating their resilience. He stated, “This team has shown resilience all year. We’ll take this experience, learn from it, and come back stronger.” And they did! They are leading the top at the semi-finals of BIG 12.

What can we look up for now? Witness the team’s warm-up. And what could be better than an invigoratingly charged-up message from the team’s leader himself?

David Taylor is all heads-up for the finals

Just leading the semi-finals will not make you win it. And the leader knows it. David is about pushing his team forward and making it clear that the focus should be on scoring and only scoring! He states, “you know it doesn’t change we just we got to keep scoring you know we got to keep scoring it just puts us in the best situation individually to go uh win some matches you know it separates ourselves from the competition both individually and as a team you know I just think it’s good it’s good.”

Taylor sees the semi-finals as a practice for the bigger ones ahead. It was to warm the team up for the finals. The Oklahoma coach is not keeping it low-key for the team anyway. He stated, “You know not every match is going to be a bonus point match.  But we got opportunities, whether you’re on the front side of the bracket, or the back side of the bracket. It makes a big difference, especially on the back side. I mean, bonus points make up for a couple wins. So yeah, this is nowhere near being over.”

Furthermore, he added, “We have guys that are sitting in the finals, we got guys on the backside that can keep scoring. This is, again, practice for the national tournament.

Winning Big 12 shall decide the Cowboys’ fate for the NCAA finals. Everything depends on the team and the players and how they perform. One can only achieve it through hard work and utmost dedication. But yes, we definitely feel the zeal here in the coach and the team too.
