Netflix has been making waves with its sports docuseries, giving fans a glimpse into the thrilling worlds of Formula 1, golf, and tennis. The streaming service?is now ready to venture into the realm of athletics, specifically focusing on the fastest individuals in the world. Excitement among fans reached a fever pitch when American sprinter Fred Kerley took to Twitter on June 16th, 2023, to share a tantalizing tidbit.

In his tweet, Kerley revealed that Netflix is currently in the process of filming the “fastest man/woman” in the world for an upcoming documentary. The announcement instantly ignited speculation and anticipation among fans worldwide. Given the immense popularity of sprinting and the sheer thrill associated with watching the world’s fastest individuals compete, it comes as no surprise that fans are eagerly anticipating the casting news for this upcoming documentary.

In a reply to American-German runner Sam Parsons’ tweet, Kerley confirmed that Netflix has indeed been filming sprinters for their upcoming documentary. Netflix will be featuring behind-the-scenes stories of popular athletes, teams, and events. As for the fastest man in the world, some sources suggest that it could be Fred Kerley, himself who will be in the cast. Although Netflix hasn?t confirmed this, it seems very likely that Kerley will star in the upcoming project about athletics.

In an interview with BBC Sport earlier this month, Kerley talked about the impact a Netflix-style series may have on athletics. “People that don’t follow athletics, they just tune in for the Olympic Games.”, he said. “We are bigger than the Olympic Games. The NBA has the Championships, the NFL has the Super Bowl. We do more stuff outside the Olympic Games that deserves more recognition.” added the 28-year-old. A further point of contention for Kerly is that while people may not know him, one of the fastest men in the world right now, “but everybody knows who LeBron James is.” Looks like the latest Netflix documentary is about to change that.

Speculations Surrounding Usain Bolt, Asafa Powell, and Dwight Thomas in a Potential Netflix Sprinters Documentary

Track and field fans are anticipating that Usain Bolt, Asafa Powell, and Dwight Thomas could be in a Netflix documentary because of their achievements and stories as sprinters. Usain Bolt is undoubtedly the most famous and accomplished sprinter of the three. With an impressive track record, Bolt has secured eight Olympic gold medals and 11 world titles across various sprinting events. He holds the world records for both the 100m (9.58 seconds) and the 200m (19.19 seconds).

Dwight Thomas, a Jamaican-born sprinter who later switched allegiance to Bahrain, might also be an interesting subject for a documentary. While primarily competing in the 110m hurdles, he occasionally participated in the 100m and 200m events. Thomas secured a gold medal in the 4x100m relay at the 2009 World Championships.
