“I Disabled My Bluetooth” : Surfing Legend Seen in Uncomfortable Situation Leaves Fans in Splits

One of the biggest surfing champions, Laird Hamilton loves the sound of the waves. However, surprisingly, Hamilton was stuck playing one song on repeat, all because he was unable to turn off his Bluetooth in his car. Fans had unexpected reactions after Hamilton posted his painful experience on social media. 

Hamilton posted a short video clip of the incident on his Instagram handle. He captioned the post as, “HELP ME. If you can’t beat them join em. Why did they invent Bluetooth?” The speaker kept playing Lil Wayne’s A Milli over and over again. While some fans pointed out what was important in such situations, other fans told Hamilton how they use Bluetooth. Let’s take a look at the range of fans’ responses.

A fan commented, “Lol ive always wondered what you would look like when you were in an uncomfortable situation.” Echoing a similar funny reaction, another fan wrote, “This is epic”, adding a smiling emoji. While fans are relishing Hamilton’s situation, the surfer himself was not amused. Realizing this fact, a fan echoed an obvious fact, “the driver needs some control.” 

Later, a fan wrote what he would do if he were in Hamilton’s situation.“I’d blow my brains out…ugh!”,  the fan wrote. Continuing, the fan said, “I’d be blasting Pet sounds.”  Needless to say, fans would be as irritated as Hamilton in this situation.

Different from these views, a fan posted, “I’ve disabled my Bluetooth I can’t stand it. I don’t want my phone taking over my car it’s evil.” In contrast, another fan wrote, “I still listen to the cd’s. Stay old school.” Evidently, several admired Hamilton’s patience. A reason for this tolerance is Hamilton’s ability to adapt to various situations. In a 2021 interview, when he was asked how he could adapt, the surfing legend made a rare revelation.

Laird implied how growing up was partly responsible for his adaptability to various circumstances. He also explained how people would make fun at his expense when he experimented with new styles while surfing. His simple formula was, “The willingness to be a beginner again and be okay with people laughing at you.”  Along with this, Hamilton explained how he was open to trying new things despite the possibility of failure.
