Popular actor Gerard Butler once faced a deadly incident while
surfing for the movie Chasing Mavericks, which was released in 2012. This incident took place on 19th December 2011 according to a report by Digitalspy.com. In The Graham Norton Show, he shared all the details of this dangerous encounter. In the Graham Norton Show, Butler described how after surfing a few waves,
“Suddenly, these waves came out of nowhere.” Elaborating on how he paddled faster, Gerard told how the wave “Spread across the skylight and it came. It was about 30 ft high.”Later, The

He was put in an ambulance so that he could get the required medical treatment.
“I was actually in the ambulance and wanted to go back, which was a little crazy but it’s pretty addictive”, reports USMagazine.com. This was not the only time a surfer faced a deadly encounter at Mavericks. Describing the incident as the worst surf experience in his life, Dorian told Men’s Journal in an interview, how he got caught in a wipeout. While it forced him to go underwater, another big wave gave him a fatal blow, preventing him from coming above the water’s surface.

Luckily, Shane was rescued by competent personnel and brought safely to the shore. Post this incident, Shane designed a life jacket which consists of a CO2 cartridge using which surfers can blow air into the jacket beneath the waters. This will prove beneficial for surfers to come above the water’s surface.
