Rodeo is a rather noisy sport. It’s always a contest to see whether one species, human or animal, can outdo the other. Steer wrestling is one of the most dangerous events in the sport since a single false move may cause serious injury to the cowboy. Every year in the month of July, the United States plays host to the annual California Rodeo Salinas, a major rodeo event. Numerous rodeo competitions and rodeo categories are included during the yearly event. Yet a local cowboy by the name of Tucker Allen dominated the 2023 competition.

This video from PRCA went viral once it was shared on the internet. Tucker Allen, a member of the PRCA since 2017, showed off his steer wrestling skills in the video. The 24-year-old cowboy displayed, in a matter of seconds, how expertly a calf can be dominated.

The California Rodeo Salinas has been going strong for almost a century, and it continues to attract those who are ready for the challenge of the rough sport. The rodeo arena often draws a large audience, and this year was no exception. Many up-and-coming performers and seasoned pros alike showed off their abilities. The Instagram video that went viral shows Tucker Allen spending some quiet time with his horse before the steer wrestling spectacle. His focus was squarely on the metal chutes beyond, where a calf awaited a brawl. In order to catch the runaway calf in less than 10 seconds, Allen and his horse companion sped toward the animal as soon as the chutes were released.

The cowboy races after the calf and comes up to it in a matter of seconds, at which point he leaps off his horse and snatches the calf by the arms. The cowboy then used his might to halt the calf and twist its neck to bring it to the ground. This spectacular 6.3 seconds of steer wrestling action was scary to witness, but luckily neither the cowboy nor the calf were hurt.

Tucker Allen added another major success to his impressive cowboy resume with his 6.3-second performance in the final round of the Californian event.
