The PBR Team Series has brought the rodeo community to Anaheim, California. The last time it was held in Kansas City, Missouri, the whole world watched as the hometown Kansas City Outlaws won the trophy on the strength of a tremendous ride by Marcus Mast. It’s the same teams that have shown up to Anaheim, but this time they’re full of optimism and resolve. Game 2 of Day 2 of the 2023 PBR Team Series featured the Nashville Stampede and the Oklahoma Freedom, and it was one of the most dramatic rodeo performances ever seen.
When the Oklahoma Freedom had a commanding lead of 84.75 points in the rodeo contest, the excitement began. However, when American cowboy Derek Kolbaba rode the bull entitled Show Me, the situation in the rodeo arena grew ugly, and the animal lived up to its name.

There was a lot on the line for both the Nashville Stampede and the Oklahoma Freedom in their PBR Team Series matchup. It was just their second game together, but winning the Team Series was still a goal for both of them. Freedom led the points standings by a game. The Stampede had hoped to improve on their 0-1-0 start with a victory in Anaheim. Derek Kolbaba was going to ride Show Me with Freedom in the lead, and the pressure was on.

Show Me, unlike other bulls, turned twice before beginning his bucking excursion after the metal chutes were removed. As the 8-second buzzer approached, the audience went berserk, but the cowboy remained seated on the bull. The cowboy was knocked off balance by the bull’s low buck, but that wasn’t the end of it. The bull attacked the downed cowboy, ripped off his helmet, and then had to be restrained by rodeo workers nearby. Although it was a near call, the cowboy managed to escape injury by running into the safety of the metal chutes.
Despite this nasty buck-off, the Oklahoma Freedom were victorious in their rodeo matchup against the Nashville Stampede. The Brazilian cowboy Alex Cerqueira, who scored a ton of points in the first round of the rodeo, was named the game’s most valuable player.
Securing a lead for his team from the start
On August 12, Alex Cerqueira played against the Missouri Thunder and suffered a nasty buck-off. Even though the Brazilian’s ride on Rodeo Thug didn’t go well, the cowboy got his revenge when his companion scored the game-winning points for the Oklahoma Freedom. When paired up with Snake Eyes, Cerqueira proved to be a worthy opponent in the recent rodeo showdown.

When the metal chutes were down, the bull led the cowboy right into the center of the rodeo arena. Although Snake Eyes gave it his all, he was no match for the determined Brazilian cowboy, as the 8-second buzzer sounded. Cowboy went through the metal chutes cheering, but judges suspected he may have touched the bull with his free hand. They looked at the ride and found nothing that made them suspicious that the rider shouldn’t get points. Freedom ultimately prevailed because of Cerqueira’s enormous 84.75 for this ride.
