Resurfaced Video of 11-Year-Old Dwayne Johnson Watching His Father Wrestle Reminds Surfing Legend of a Famous Hollywood Celebrity

50-year-old American actor Dwayne Johnson is a household name all over the globe. Before becoming a successful actor, the man who went by the nickname “The Rock”, was an intimidating wrestler in the ring. Even the most traditional of grandparents would be able to identify his 6’4″, 260-pound physique, thanks to his distinctive tattoos. A viral Instagram video of The Rock in his younger years has caught the attention of surfing icon Kelly Slater.

In the Instagram video that has now gone viral, a young Dwayne Johnson can be seen cheering for his father, former WWE (then, WWF) star Rocky Johnson. Kelly Slater, who saw the video, could not help but comment on it, drawing similarities between The Rock and another well-known American actor.

The viral video compelled the surfing legend

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson now maintains a clean-shaven head. His afro hairstyle from when he was 11 years old is plainly seen in the Instagram reel. Thirteen years before he actually debuted in the WWE, the future star witnessed his father, Rocky Johnson, in action. The Rock sported an old-school zip-up tracksuit in the 1984 clip. Even surfing icon Kelly Slater was taken aback when he saw Johnson’s childhood look.

Drawing similarities between The Rock and popular American actor, Rob Schneider, Slater commented, “Looks like Rob Schneider.” Johnson and Schneider, who is also a stand-up comedian, screenwriter, producer, and director, have a common trait apart from the fact that they have worn several hats in their career. Both, once had an afro haircut. The Rock has not yet seen the response, but it has received a flood of comments from those who found it humorous. Slater’s observation that these two well-known Americans had a lot in common is both plausible and unexpected, given that neither of them sport the same hairstyle as before.

The reason for not sticking with his natural hairstyle

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has played in the Canadian Football League, wrestled for the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), and is now one of Hollywood’s best-paid actors, and each of these incarnations have been represented by a distinct hairdo. A mop top for the CFL, a flat top for the WWE, and now a clean-shaven look as an actor, the change from one to the other has been so gradual that it’s difficult to imagine Johnson with hair.

While many assumed he was balding, according to Johnson, that was not the case. The actor opted to shave because he disliked his hair’s natural texture. Regardless of the reason, safe to say that Johnson’s iconic look has been an aspiration for many who suffer from involuntary baldness.
