The Bucket List Family, with around 2.6 million Instagram followers, is famous for posting daily surfing videos. Most of their videos focus on the five members of the family’s various travels throughout the globe. Garrett, Jessica, Dorothy, Manilla, and Calihan are a family of five travel journalists who like posting frequent updates about their lives. However, on their most recent expedition, Garrett and his son Calihan, age 5, saw a common sight that is usually scary for surfers, and Calihan’s response to it was just incredible.

The Bucket List Family shared a video on social media, and it quickly went viral, amassing around 3 million views. The video included the 5-year-old surfer’s response as he was surfing near a shark.

While most people hit the waves in the summer to cool down, The Bucket List Family considers it simply another day at the beach. Garrett and his son Calihan, better known as Cali, can be seen surfing in their backyard in the video. Nonetheless, while Cali was enjoying himself on the waves, he turned his head to the left and saw the shark’s fin. For a while, the little surfer couldn’t focus on anything else but the shark swimming nearby. Another time, Cali was almost swept off his board by a wave he failed to see.

The kid surfed turned around and yelled, “What was that?” at his father, Garrett. The young surfer questioned his father about the shark while Garrett was on his way to him, but the older surfer referred to it as a “fish” instead. But Cali has just refuted that it was merely a “fish,” saying that no fish could possibly be so large. Even the adjacent residents yelled at them, claiming to have seen a shark. Even though Cali was well aware that it was a shark, he calmed the situation by saying it was a turtle.

The video went viral after receiving several million views. It went viral because of the kid’s remarkable composure as a huge shark swam around him. The 5-year-old surfer’s response to the ordeal earned widespread praise from online commenters.

This commentator imagined themselves in the situation, saying, “That’s crazy. So happy the shark stayed away. I would’ve pee’d myself.” This comment appreciates the kid’s reaction, as it read, “On the one hand it seems Garrett helps Cali stay calm.
