Hawaii is a surfer’s Mecca because its waves cater to surfers of all skill levels. Shark’s Cove, in Pupukea Beach Park, is one such well-liked beach. Even though it’s called Shark’s Cove, that doesn’t imply that thirsty sharks live there. The reef beyond the cove is said to resemble the silhouette of a shark from above, which is how the landmark received its name. One of the most difficult spots for surfing enthusiasts is due to the rock formations that surround this natural surf pool, and surf vlogger Jamie O’Brien is always up for a good challenge.

Jamie O’Brien and his crew are seen riding these waves on the north coast of Hawaii in a recent Facebook video. It wasn’t hard to see that everyone was looking forward to the challenge of surfing in between the rocky outcrops.

Another regular day at the office for the surfing star

At the beginning of the clip, while O’Brien is lathering on the sunscreen, his enthusiasm for the incomparable weather in Hawaii is palpable. He says, “We’re gonna score right now. Twin Fins. Shark’s Cove.”  This would be his crewmate’s first time surfing in this location, and it seems that he is a little anxious about it. And the “sunscreen” joke that kicks off their surfing adventure is priceless. With his surfboard in one hand and his GoPro linked to one of his selfie sticks in the other, O’Brien did a backflip into the pool. O’Brien was already a pro on the waves when his friends showed up to surf with him. Although the waves themselves weren’t very large, O’Brien still managed to be washed off a few times due to the interposed rock formations.

The reef presented some difficulties, but the surfer and his crew overcame them and had a successful session. It took some time for them to figure out how to navigate these rocky waters with modest waves. O’Brien performed a number of mini-tricks while out in the surf. The surfer was cautious enough to avoid the most hazardous rock formations, so the wipeouts he had were very minor. The friend of O’Brien who had his first Shark’s Cove surf session rated it as “Super psyched” at the end of the video.
