The surfing time in El Salvador is over. Brazilian power emerged in the WSL tournament that sparked the same controversy as the Surf Ranch Pro when Filipe Toledo soundly thrashed American surfer Griffin Colapinto. With this victory, the reigning world champion moved up to the number two spot on the 2023 men’s championship tour, an incredible accomplishment. However, after a few hours of celebrating his victory, the surfer addressed his cherished community.

After winning the surfing competition in El Salvador, Brazilian surfer Filipe Toledo posted a personal reflection on his social media profile. The message’s significance lies in the discussion of his future objectives and his outlook on life.

Filipe Toledo, the 2022 world champion, has had a fantastic World Surf League season in 2023. In February, the Brazilian surfer defeated Griffin Colapinto to win the Hurley Pro at Sunset Beach, marking his first victory of the 2023 campaign. He once again bested the American surfer in El Salvador, this time by a whopping 5.23-point margin. Every Brazilian cheered as the surfer took the competition’s prize back to the country. However, after he won the competition, the surfer wrote some remarks for his Instagram followers.

The surfer begins with lofty language, proclaiming, “Challenges are part of our life, our growth, and evolution!” He continues, saying that many individuals “think about giving up,” but that “giving up is not an option!” He expresses his gratitude to everyone who has helped him along the way and his joy at having finished on top of the podium in El Salvador. The surfer, however, will not be stopping here, as he has plans for further adventures in the sport this year.

The next World Surf League (WSL) event will be the VIVO Rio Pro, hosted in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. As the top surfers in the world get closer together in the rankings, the Brazilian crowd will be pumped up to watch some intense competition.

How much the rankings have been affected?

One WSL event may make a huge difference in the world of surfing, where the championship tour standings are constantly shifting. However, identical developments occurred in El Salvador. Although Griffin Colapinto of the United States is still ranked first, Filipe Toledo of Brazil has risen to the second position, passing fellow countryman Joao Chianca in the process.
