Kelly Slater, an eleven-time winner of the World Surf League (WSL), has dominated the sport of surfing for the previous decades. The surfer, though, is still actively engaged in his favorite sport despite being 51 years old. As a new generation of surfers emerges, which represents the future of the sport Slater loves, he no doubt admires them with the hope that they will carry on his legacy. Recently, a young surfer’s flawless performance in the latest Soup Bowl, organized by the WSL itself has caught the attention of the legend.

Kelly Slater has congratulated this surfing prodigy with a little message on his Instagram story. His performance at the occasion left the legend in awe.

A performance that the surfing legend always looks for

Christian Stoute, a promising young surfer, shot to prominence after crushing the competition in the recent Soup Bowl. While surfing, Stoute uses the moniker Termite, thus he is known by both names. He may not have gotten a perfect score in the heat, but whatever he did was good enough to impress surfing’s all-time great, Kelly Slater. He won the Under-12 category with an 8.83 on his best wave and a 7.17 on his second.

The video of the young surfer, shows him skimming gracefully over the waves. It was reposted by Kelly Slater, where he congratulated Termite, saying, “Shoutout to my little buddy @christian_stoute_termite for his win at Soup Bowl this weekend.” Termite also replied to Slater on his Instagram story, saying, “Thanks uncle @kellyslater” This was a wholesome interaction between the top surfer of one generation and the future star of the next generation of the sport, congratulating the latter for his little achievements.

It was a happy occasion for the surfer’s family and the surfing community as a whole. Fans were quick to flood the Instagram post with compliments when he received one from the GOAT.

The kid has come a long way, but only because of the support of his parents, who encouraged his passion and love for the sport, as one comment read, “Bl..dy fantastic Chrissy – super surfer -. Kudos to Dad and Mum for supporting your passion.” It looks like somebody watched his terrific performance and couldn’t contain themself as they say, “Caught it on the webcast, So fun to watch!! Congrats to that little‼️”

Even if he won first place in the event, Termite didn’t miss to congratulate his opponents too, as one comment read, “Big up termite for shouting out his friends and competitors. He small but he is a giant den.” The young surfing star also has another sport that he enjoys, as this comment read, “Congrats to @christian_stoute_termite well done! We miss ya on the skate scene, but we see you’ve been doing your thing on the surf front.”
