In Brazil, surf culture is strong. The Rio Pro will take place in the city of Rio de Janeiro, where thousands of supporters are waiting in the hopes that a Brazilian surfer will take first place. Brazilian surfer Filipe Toledo won the event last year by easily outscoring Samuel Pupo, another Brazilian surfer.
