The heroic act by the tourist who enjoys surfing

For the last five years, the British native has visited Cape Town once a year. Finneran begins the story as he enjoys the beautiful Cape Town weather by taking a stroll along the sea point from Saunders Rock above Queens Beach. A teenager, however, was seen by Finneran as he walked down the beach in the early evening hours, snatching the pink rescue buoy. At first, Finneran thought the child was just playing with his friends, but as he pointed toward the ocean, he was taken aback. Despite the strong rip current, the traveler, who had competed in Ironman triathlons, swam out between the rocks to where the boy’s companion was half-submerged.

The surfer tied a rope to the buoy and attempted to swim back while holding it out to the half-submerged adolescent. But when he noticed a huge wave heading their way, the British man freaked out. As reported by IOL, Finneran explains, “A big set of waves came in, and we were right in the crash zone, at risk of getting thrown onto the rocks.” He then added, saying, “As the wave hit us, the lad was unable to hold onto the buoy and got swept closer to the rocks.” Finneran didn’t have any optimism in spite of the problems. The traveler swam quickly to him as the wave passed, bringing the youngster safely to the surface. Additionally, he promptly instructed a witness to contact emergency services. Over the phone, Finneran also received first-aid advice from a friend who is an orthopedic specialist.
