The Winnipeg Jets and Minnesota Wild, two teams in the Western Conference, had a tense game yesterday. Winnipeg’s home team, the Jets, had extra motivation to win in front of their home crowd at the Canada Life Centre. However, a terrible occurrence occurred during the intense NHL match when Jets defender Logan Stanley barged into Wilds winger Kirill Kaprizov, injuring him.

Twitter user @cjzero posted a video of the unpleasant incident. The video shows plainly how Stanley knocked down the Russian NHL player in an instant by crashing into him from behind as they both went for the puck.

The qualifying pool for the Stanley Cup presently includes the Winnipeg Jets and the Minnesota Wild. The Jets are now in eighth place with 75 points, but if they don’t win and raise the bar, the teams behind them will catch up quickly. The Jets were playing in front of a raucous home crowd and seemed set to bury the opposition.

The Minnesota Wild got off to a good start in the first period thanks to a goal from Marcus Foligno. The second period of the game started off with the Wild center Frederick Gaudreau scoring, giving the visitors a two-goal lead. A quick equalizer was scored by Jets defenseman Logan Stanley, and then in the next minute, Wild forward Ryan Hartman scored for the club. The second period ended with the Jets winger Nino Niederreiter scoring, making the scoreboard 2-3.

There was no scoring in the third quarter until the very end of the game. After receiving a hit from the gigantic Jets defender Logan Stanley with 11 minutes left in the game, Wild forward Kirill Kaprizov sustained a serious lower-body injury. When Stanley fell on the Wild forward, Kaprizov’s legs twisted awkwardly as he fell on the ice. There have been no updates on Kaprizov’s status, according to Wild head coach Dean Evason’s post. He also indicated that the people will soon be given an update on Kaprizov’s condition.

Wild player Mason Shaw scored the game-winning goal in the last minute to give the Wild a 2-4 victory against the Winnipeg Jets. There has been no word on the Wild star’s injury as of yet. Stay tuned for further updates.
