The Russian ice hockey icon Alexander Ovechkin has once again shown the NHL fans his greatness. In his recent match against the Pittsburgh Penguins, Ovechkin might have scored the sport’s most notorious goal. This goal has also put him close to Wayne Gretzky, aka The Great One’s 894-goal record.
Alexander Ovechkin is just 82 goals away from reaching Gretzky’s record. No other NHL player has gotten this close to the landmark record that was set decades ago. The early goal that Ovechkin scored in the game for the Washington Capitals against the Pittsburgh Penguins was stunning. Right after Evgeny Kuznetsov’s pass to Ovechkin, the latter didn’t think of anything other than putting the puck into the net.
