NHL Star Hospitalized Following a Horrifying Scooter Accident

Fifth in the Pacific Division, the Calgary Flames are fighting to make the playoffs. However, the squad has been dealt a setback, as defenseman Rasmus Andersson has been involved in a scooter accident in Detroit before their game against the Detroit Red Wings.

The Calgary Flames defenseman may not play in today’s game against the Red Wings, according to a report by Matt Jaworowski of WOOD TV8. Rasmus Andersson, at the time of the collision, was taken to a nearby hospital, and later discharged.

The Calgary Flames’ Twitter posted, revealing, “At approximately 6:00 p.m. ET, Wednesday, February 8 in Detroit, MI, while riding a scooter on his way to dinner, Flames defenceman Rasmus Andersson was struck by a vehicle. Andersson was taken to local hospital for a full battery of tests before being released last night.” They also added, “Andersson is doing well, and he will remain with the team. He is listed as day-to-day.”

The defenseman was reportedly on his way to dinner when he was struck by a vehicle in Detroit while riding his scooter. At 7 p.m. on Thursday, the Red Wings will welcome the Flames to Little Caesars Arena. Since the team has made no additional announcement, his participation in today’s game is still unknown.

Rasmus Andersson, who was selected by the Flames in the second round of the 2015 NHL Entry Draft, has been a regular for the team since the 2018-2019 season. This year he has played in 51 games, tallying 7 goals and 27 assists.
