Chicago Blackhawks supporters were taken aback on Wednesday when their club captain and fan favorite, Patrick Kane, was traded to the New York Rangers. Despite the fact that the Blackhawks are having a poor NHL season, this move has devastated Blackhawks supporters who wanted Kane to stay with the team. The organization has also previously traded fan favorites like Kane, and the game between the New York Rangers and the Ottawa Senators has lately become a place for the former teammates to meet each other.

Charlie Roumeliotis, an insider for the Chicago Blackhawks, posted a clip of the same on Twitter. Fans were overwhelmed with emotions by the touching reunion of former teammates Patrick Kane and Alex DeBrincat, and the resulting video quickly went viral.

No one in the NHL needs an introduction to Patrick Kane, who just moved. The ex-captain was an integral part of the team. Kane has played in 1,161 games since the 2007-08 season, scoring 446 goals and adding 779 assists for the Chicago Blackhawks. On the other side, Alex DeBrincat was sent to the Ottawa Senators in a trade in July. In 368 games with the Blackhawks, DeBrincat has 160 goals and 147 assists. Both players were beloved by Blackhawks fans, so seeing them go head-to-head just stirs up strong feelings.

These two former teammates reunited in New York for the Madison Square Garden game between the New York Rangers and the Ottawa Senators. While former teammates Patrick Kane and Alex DeBrincat were training on opposite ends of the ice, Kane skated towards DeBrincat with the puck and flicked it in between DeBrincat’s skates.
