Home/Olympics

The Boston Bruins have had a lot of success thus far in this NHL season. The squad has won six straight games, and tonight the goaltender also established a club record. Today, the Bruins traveled to Vancouver to take on the Canucks in their home arena, Rogers Arena. The Bruins did, however, demonstrate to the Canucks what it takes to be the NHL’s best club. In a humiliating loss for the home team, the visiting team’s goalkeeper scored an open-net goal, setting a new franchise record.

Linus Ullmark, the goalie for the Boston Bruins, had a great game today. He not only stopped 26 shots, but he also scored a goal. The team sent up a Facebook post praising Ullmark for setting a new franchise record, and the reaction was positive. The Bruins had trouble getting a goal during the first period because the Canucks’s defense was so solid. On the other side, Bruins defender Hampus Lindholm opened the scoring in the 18th minute, inspiring teammate Brad Marchand to score for the Bruins two minutes later. The Canucks’s first period concluded with a score of 0–2, and things were not looking well.

In the second period, though, when both teams’ defenses were on full display, the intensity of the conflict rose to a new level. After the second period, the score remained at 0–2. Canucks right winger Brock Boeser scored the team’s first goal in the 48th minute during the third period, giving his side renewed energy and hope for a comeback. Although the Canucks never gave up hope of a comeback, the solid defense shown by the visiting squad ensured that their hopes were never fulfilled.
