Home/Olympics

In the current NHL season, the Boston Bruins have been almost unstoppable. The clubs’ administration is taking their contracts with the players very seriously as the Stanley Cup playoffs get near. David Pastrnak’s stellar performances this year have made him a hot commodity for the Bruins.

NHL on ESPN released a video on YouTube in which Emily Kaplan spoke with The Point to discuss the latest happenings with the Boston Bruins. Additionally, she dropped hints that right-winger David Pastrňák’s contract with the Bruins might be extended. Pastrňák, who goes by the nickname ‘Pasta’ was picked up by the Bruins in the first round (pick number 25) of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft. To this day, Pasta has maintained his league-leading performance.

Fans assumed this was a rumor, so they went crazy in the comments. Several rumors were floating around before the one about Pasta’s contract extension, including one about former Vancouver Canucks captain Bo Horvat joining the Bruins (he ended up with the New York Islanders instead).

This Bruins fan just wants the contract to get extended as soon as possible, saying, “For the love of God, please get this done!”

The comment of this fan explains all the rumors regarding the transfers reads, “Well, they’d better be close to finalizing that deal! The idea of Horvat coming to Boston, while it was never actually going to happen, was a pleasant fiction for a couple months. With that not happening, Pastrnak, Swayman, McAvoy, hopefully Lysell—that is the young core of the future for this team. It’ll never be the same team without Marchand, Patrice, and Krejci, of COURSE, and how could it be? But they should be focused on building a solid core for the future. Just as one day, in 10-12 years, all of THESE guys will be retiring. The Bruins have always been terrible at looking to the future.”

A fan has a different opinion, as they want the team’s management to focus on getting some defensemen, saying, “Better get 2 big defenseman or you’re not beating Carolina!”

This fan did some quick maths analyzing Bruins’ decision and says, “11×8=88 million for Pasta with NMC in all 8 seasons? That seems like a fair contract for both sides. He’s a special talent.”
