Not only do cowboys engage in risky activities like bull riding during rodeos, but there are also plenty of other exciting events. A rodeo evening also includes a variety of equestrian events such as barrel racing, team roping, and steer wrestling. After a long day at the rodeo, the crowd and the cowboys are so energized that they can’t do much more than sleep. However, not everyone has their rodeo finish the way this one did. At the Rodeo State Finals, Hudson Gros got to put his training to the test when a horse broke free.
The clip of the juvenile cowboy trying to catch the escaped horse was posted online by the KPLC Digital Team. The event occurred in Sulphur, Louisiana, just after the Rodeo State Finals at the West Cal Arena.

It was a long day at the West Cal Arena in Sulphur, Louisiana, for the Rodeo State Finals. Hudson Gros was getting ready to leave the stadium after the game ended when he realized he’d left something important behind. Hudson says, “I had forgotten my halter at the arena after I was done competing.” This confession comes from an interview with the KPLC Digital Team. His return to the West Cal Arena with his stallion was necessitated by this turn of events. On his way back to the arena, though, he came upon a horse that had escaped from the arena.
The young cowboy and two other pickup guys quickly began chasing after the escaped horse. The horse can be seen running free in the arena’s parking lot in a surveillance video posted on the KPLC Digital Team website. While searching for this notorious animal, Gros has also been sighted. His first effort to lasso the escaping horse was unsuccessful. However, he retracted his rope, remade the loop, and successfully caught the horse in the hotel’s parking lot.

When the runaway horse was eventually captured, the hard day for the young cowboy was over. However, in the interview, Gros gave credit for the successful pursuit of his horse, Rex. The cowboy says, “Couldn’t have done it without my trustful Rex,” after successfully catching the galloping horse with the help of his own horse.
