A 97-year-old woman’s Christmas wish to ride a horse was granted by her family, once. She wanted to have one final experience riding a horse despite her sickness and frail physique. The horse also aided the old lady remember happier times in her life.
In 2019, KOCO 5 News released an emotional video about Janet Fauks, a 97-year-old equestrian, who had a burning desire to ride a horse again at this age. This Oklahoma City resident’s bucket list wish was made possible with the aid of Cottonwood Creek Ranch.

Janet Fauks has many happy childhood memories associated with time spent on Morgan horses. The Morgan horse is an early American breed. But now that she’s elderly, one of the few things left on her bucket list was to go horseback riding for Christmas. Her family contacted Cottonwood Creek Ranch in an effort to grant Janet’s dream, and they were able to do so with their assistance. The ranch employees learned that the lady enjoyed riding Morgan horses, so they gave her one they knew she would appreciate, a Morgan by the name of Stretch.
As soon as Janet laid eyes on the majestic animal, her eyes sparkled with joy. The crew helped her mount Stretch, and once she was on the horse, she patted its neck to establish rapport. Stretch started the trek with a member of staff at her side, treating Janet with the utmost care as a passenger. The 97-year-old finally fulfilled a long-awaited dream as the horse galloped many times. Stretch was also given a charm by the staff, which made Janet very happy since she once again felt like a proper horsewoman.

Janet and her loved ones were crying tears of joy as Janet’s horse adventure finally happened. It was time to return Stretch to the stable, and Janet intended to ride him there. When they got back to the stable, the worker let them in. Janet’s ride was successful since she not only had fun but also got to know Stretch.
