Fans’ favorite pre-race star, Forte, is already generating waves in the equestrian world as the 2023 Kentucky Derby approaches in just a few weeks. While Forte’s impressive track record has made him the buzz of the Derby, fans shouldn’t discount the other 19 horses who will be competing in one of the most prestigious races in the world. The stallion Two Phil’s would be present in the 2023 Kentucky Derby, despite the fact that its moniker is unlikely to be instantly remembered. Larry Rivelli, who has been working with the stallion for a long time, keeps him in his stable.
Horse Racing Nation just published a report on the unheralded stallion in training. Chicagoan Larry Rivelli may not have the name recognition of major trainers like Todd Pletcher and Brad Cox, but his horse’s recent success has helped to change that. Besides the favorite Forte from the Derby, Two Phil’s has been making waves in the races.

Two Phil’s total profits of $683,450 may not seem like much when compared to the pre-race leader, fan favorite Forte, at $2,409,830. But with a dominant win in the nine-furlong Jeff Ruby Steaks (G3) at Turfway Park on March 25, the three-time stakes winner cemented his status as a legitimate contender for the 2023 Kentucky Derby. The fact that the stallion has a chance against Forte has shocked equestrian fans. Even though Two Phil’s trainer, Larry Rivelli, isn’t particularly well-known, he has won 1,769 races and made a massive $35,866,661 over the course of his career.

According to Horse Racing Nation, the rider who will be riding Two Phil’s for the 2023 Kentucky Derby is not a household name. Jareth Loveberry, 35, will be participating in his first Kentucky Derby with Two Phil’s. Loveberry has won 1,759 races in his career and earned a total of $34,756,346.
Will Two Phil’s perform like his predecessor?
In 2007, the horse known as Hard Spun rose to prominence. Born in 2004, he stopped racing after the 2007 season and is now 19 years old. Born to Danzig and the Turkoman mare Turkish Tryst, he has a very unique pedigree. J. Larry Jones was his coach and mentor. The 2007 Kentucky Cup Classic (G2), the 2007 H. Allen Jerkens Memorial (G1), the 2007 Lane’s End Stakes (G2), the 2007 Lecomte (G3), and the 2006 Port Penn (RS) are only some of his stakes victories.
