For 64-year-old Timothy J. Hennen, a day of equestrian activity along Birch Coulee Creek turned into a nightmare when he fell from his horse onto an embankment. According to the Renville County Sheriff’s Office, this happened over the weekend. Despite the best efforts of the locals and the paramedics, Hennen was pronounced dead at the site after they had performed multiple emergency medical treatments on him.

The West Central Tribune published reports from the Renville County Sheriff’s Office, detailing the the tragic event that claimed the life of the horse enthusiast.

The equestrian adventure that took a bad turn

64-year-old Minnesotan Timothy J. Hennen lived in the small town of Morton. The scene investigators concluded that Hennen was horseback riding when the accident occurred because the horse slipped and fell. The rider lost control and went tumbling down an embankment next to Birch Coulee Creek when the horse collapsed.

The witnesses to the terrible event did not hesitate to take matters into their own hands and begin administering first aid to the unconscious victim. In addition, they also alerted the authorities, who came promptly. Hennen was given the necessary resuscitation procedures, but it was futile since he was already cold.

The West Central Tribune reports that the local Sheriff’s Office was notified of the terrible crash on Sunday at 5:23 p.m., one-mile northeast of Morton, at the intersection of 675th Avenue and 355th Street. The Morton Medical Response Unit (MRU), Morton Fire Department, and CentraCare Ambulance helped the locals, while the Renville County Sheriff’s Office and the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office are currently looking into the incident and will release the results at a later date.
