Home/Olympics

Since equestrian sports first made its Olympic debut more than a century ago, the sport has had a long and storied history. Millionaires and billionaires throughout the globe participate in the sport, popular for the hotshot names. American actor Johnny Depp is also included on this list of notable people. Depp’s ranch in Kentucky was for his mother, Betty Sue Palmer, who passed away in May 2016.  In December of the same year, Depp attempted to sell the ranch but suffered a devastating loss.

After failing to sell on the traditional real estate market, Johnny Depp reportedly tried to auction off his property to the highest bidder, as per Ideal Home. Despite his best efforts to sell the equestrian estate for $3,400,000 in December 2020, he was forced to take a $500,000 loss when the price was lowered to $2,900,000 in March 2021.

The estate is accessed through a long, fenced road. There are a total of six bedrooms and six bathrooms, as well as a spacious family room and a sunroom. In addition to the main home and four-car garage, the property has a separate guesthouse, swimming pool, and stables for horses and tractors.

There are a total of three barns, fifteen stalls, and ten self-watering paddocks on the expansive grounds. The ranch is in a beautiful setting, with vast fields of greenery all around it. Two miles away lies the world-famous Keeneland Racetrack, making this the ideal residence for an equestrian lover. For $1,000,000, Depp resold it in 2001. But after waiting a while, the actor decided to purchase it back for $2,000,000, which was a good investment given the increased worth of the ranch. Depp claims the ranch’s value increased to $3,400,000, but after dropping to $2,900,000, he chose to auction it off.
