It may be highly costly to participate in equestrian activities, from buying a horse to renting a ranch. While some riders take up the sport just for the joy of being around horses, others want to prove their mettle in competitive equestrian events. Dressage is a kind of equestrian performance often practiced for competition and exhibition, but it is also recognized as an art form in its own right. These horses have received extensive training and care specifically for this purpose. However, there are situations when things go wrong and injuries occur due to a small occurrence. This is what happened to the well-liked dressage horse Casper.

Casper is a “very special” dressage equine. Unfortunately, the herd of cows scared the poor animal, and he fell into a ditch that was eight feet deep. Horse & Hound reported on the event, noting that firefighters responded quickly to help the injured dressage horse.

According to Horse & Hound, an official for the fire department stated, “[The crews] attended an incident where a horse called Casper had fallen into an 8ft deep ditch.” Nobody could have predicted the unexpected event that caused the fall. The horse, he said, was “spooked by a herd of cows.” A quick-release lifting beam was utilized by the team when they arrived at the rescue location to bring the horse back to the surface.

The horse has done very well in competitive dressage. Since Casper had competed in numerous national dressage competitions over the years, the news shocked everyone who knew him. Casper was saved at approximately 5 p.m., according to the authorities who did the work, and he was put in the hands of a veterinarian.
