Do Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens qualify as the athletic couple of the year? It certainly seems so. The Owens are now a married couple after facing the lowest points in their professional lives together. They’ve overcome Simone’s “twisties”-induced withdrawal from the Olympics and Jonathan’s undrafted season in the NFL. However, their busy schedules have kept them in different locations, with Simone in Texas and Jonathan in the home state of the Green Bay Packers. On their respective playing fields, the 26-year-old gymnast has made a triumphant return, while the 28-year-old NFL safety continues to shine.

As dedicated as they are to their respective sports, their loyalty to each other knows no bounds. The Owens also have a knack for stealing moments, and before you know it, a break from their commitments turns into a sweet in-person reunion. In a recent visit, the safety from the 53-man roster and the all-around gymnast shared a glimpse into their cozy moments.

What could be better than a mansion? A home for their future family, and that’s the buzz surrounding Biles’ new property. After regaining her reigning all-around status in California, Biles recently shared a series of candid photos. She posted an affectionate update from the construction site of their wooden property, where she lovingly held onto Owens’s neck. The 5’11” gymnast’s husband then swept up the 4′ 8″ gymnast and they shared a kiss. She seemed reluctant to leave her husband’s arms as he carried her. Reposting his wife’s story, Owens took to Instagram, “Visualizing the days until we make this house a home” with two red heart emojis.

Earlier, the gymnast also shared two sets of Instagram posts: the first one featured their athletic hands flaunting their diamond-studded wedding rings resting on white sheets. The second set was a three-picture post from a visit to their work-in-progress property, with the last picture showing a glimpse of the dusty floor as the camera focused on their intertwined hands. Since Owens stays away, Biles frequently stops by the Houston property to check on their new house when she has free time.

The foundation for the new home, owned by the newlyweds since April, was laid in March 2023. Just like their relationship, the couple opted to start from scratch. Only recently has their wooden house started to take shape, with precisely carved stair details emerging. After several months of anticipation and frequent visits, the gymnast expressed her excitement in her Instagram stories updates.

What’s next for the power couple

Both athletes have achieved the first stage of their future aspirations; Owens is striving to win the Vince Lombardi Trophy for his team, and Biles is aiming for the forthcoming Olympics. During their time apart, Biles has become a cheerleader for her man’s team, while Owens has poured in praise for her as she set an American record. Out of the three NFL preseason matches, the Packers have won two, and next up, the team will face the Chicago Bears on September 11.

As for the winningest gymnast, Biles will compete in this fall’s world championships in Antwerp, Belgium. With fellow Olympians hoping to compete at next summer’s Paris Games, the next test in Belgium begins on September 30.
