Dave Portnoy is unapologetically passionate about three things, and among them is his alma mater, the University of Michigan. His pride as a Michigan man is unmistakable whenever the topic arises. Recently, Michigan’s football team faced controversy that affected the coaching staff, including Jim Harbaugh.

Due to his second suspension of the season, Harbaugh will be absent for the final regular-season game, a crucial match against their arch-rivals, the Ohio State Buckeyes. The winner of this game secures a spot in the Conference championship game against the Iowa Hawkeyes. While victory on the field remains uncertain, Dave Portnoy found joy in an accomplishment achieved off the field.

Dave Portnoy sarcastically championed a “great cause” started by Jake Butt and Joshua Perry. They both want to see the Buckeyes beat the Wolverines on November 25. Perry made the announcement via his X handle. He wrote, “Announcement. @Jbooty88 and I are hosting a charitable competition benefitting the Boys and Girls Clubs of Central Ohio and Southeastern Michigan. @OhioStateFB fans, we need you to like, repost to spread the word and donate so we can #BeatTTUN!” Portnoy responded to that with the words, “Great cause here from @Jbooty88 and @RIP_JEP. Not surprisingly it’s all Michigan. thegamegivesback.com.”

Dave Portnoy also shared an image from the adjoining website. There, donations can be made in the name of either the Buckeyes or the Wolverines. At the time Portnoy took the image, the Michigan supporters had raised $8,495.74 more than their rival fans. That separation would reduce slightly but it would remain significant. The off-field win gave Portnoy’s mood a boost. He will hope the players can do their jobs on the field. They have a perfect record thus far.

So far, a perfect season for both the Wolverines and the Buckeyes

Both teams come into this clash on the backs of 11-0 records overall. Wolverines’ quarterback J.J. McCarthy is presently enduring a slump, with Blake Corum averaging a little over two rushing touchdowns a game during that time. The Wolverines are presently ranked the third-best college team in the nation. They will need to put their best foot forward given the Buckeyes have a higher rating.
