Lindsey Vonn is one of the most decorated Alpine skiers of all time. In fact, her compatriot Mikaela Shiffrin broke her record for most World Cup wins for a female skier. She also went past Ingemar Stenmark’s all-time record of 86 World Cup wins. Vonn recognized talent when she saw it and stated Shiffrin could yet reach three figures in that column.

Lindsey Vonn published her bestselling memoir, titled Rise: My Story, in January 2022. That was three years after her retirement from her sport of choice. In it, she detailed never-before-told stories from her life. Her autobiography met with praise from nearly every corner, including from the reigning WTA champion, Iga Swiatek.

Lindsey Vonn shared a story on Instagram. In it, Iga Swiatek detailed her reaction to the bestseller. Swiatek spoke in Polish, with her remarks translated below the image of the cover of the book. Vonn added the following words, “Thank you for all the kind words. This is why I wrote the book. You’re the best, Iga.”

Iga Swiatek was full of praise for Lindsey Vonn’s memoir. She admitted she was happy upon reading the book. It inspired her, she noted, to do better in more ways than one. Besides, it gave her an appreciation for the risks and requisite courage accompanying skiing. It also made her thankful she did not have to sacrifice her health as much.

The WTA champ rejects all suggestions of bias

Iga Swiatek confessed she knew Lindsey Vonn. Simultaneously, she disregarded all suggestions of bias when recommending the book. In her own words, “Yes, we know each other, Lindsey and I, but I recommend this book and I think I’m not biased here! It’s written very well, smooth, simple, and interesting. There is no Polish translation yet (Hello! It’s worth it).”
