The OSU Cowboys wrestling team is taking back-to-back wins. There is no room for rest. The wins have been never-ending since the season began. Proving themselves throughout the season under the coaching ship of David Taylor, the Cowboys’ relevance today stands strong in the NCAA alongside other major colleges.
After five dual wins, David Taylor is now preparing his wrestling team, posing a strong opposition for the upcoming matches. The next venture has now set its destination in Stillwater. The third-ranked OSU Cowboys will be going against the sixth-ranked Virginia Tech in the next upcoming match. The dual is coming out to be among the 10 top duals under Taylor’s coaching.

Throughout his coaching era, David Taylor has experienced several ups and downs, with the team emerging side by side, reflecting their best foot forward for the popularity of the team. Along with the wins came certain drawbacks about the overall performance of the Cowboys, who were behind in some areas even though they were getting the win at the end.
Experiencing the Cowboys’ improvements and growing working performance, David Taylor, ahead of its dual match against Virginia Tech, recently shared his views and opinions on himself as well as the team. “I don’t know, like a light bulb moment just where either you realized, hey, everything’s clicking for me or for the staff, or has it just been kind of you know, every day every week you, it just feels a little more comfortable.
David Taylor further went on to describe his experience as a head coach in comparison to his wrestling days in an interview. “Well, I think in my competitive career I didn’t achieve what I did by just thinking. I figured it out, you know, as a coach, is no different. As soon as you think you got it figured out, you’re getting passed up by someone else, so no, there it’s just there’s some times you’re like, I think I made a mistake here I got to get better.
Furthering talking about the contradictory experiences from the wins and success, David Taylor shares how the team works to better themselves than the previous going forward and the acceptance of the disappointments with positivity. “Sometimes I think, you know, did a good job here, but it’s constantly that you’re still trying to get better and improve. You don’t figure it out ever, you know. I think there are some times that maybe a little more, um, a little more comfortable than other times. But you know, it’s just definitely every day is a new day, you know, just trying to get to keep moving. We got to keep improving, you know. That’s the biggest thing.”

Virginia Hokies, securing the 4th spot at the Las Vegas event, were left behind the #3 seed OSU Cowboys, who took away a dominating win. Virginia Tech coach Tony Robie, however, comes concerned, experiencing a different feeling this time for the Stillwater dual. “We need to stay dialed into what we need to be dialed into to compete the way we’re capable of competing. So that’s, I think, going to be critically important to the outcome of this dual meet.” The competition against Virginia Tech’s top stars alongside OSU Cowboys’ top players like Troy Spratley is coming as an intensive one to watch.
In just their first season under David Taylor’s coaching, the Cowboys dominated the wrestling industry, with 30 or more points surpassed in each of their five dual games. The sixth one set against Virginia Tech will be something to look forward to.
