

The sport of wrestling has come together to pledge their unwavering support to the wrestling coach, Steve Mytych, following her daughter, Mercedes, who suffered a very tragic accident on New Year’s Eve. Presently she is being treated at CHOP’s ICU, her condition is critical, and she moves into the future expecting multiple surgeries and procedures. Coach Steve Mytych’s daughter needs financial help and prayers to recover soon.
The Grit Mat Club in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, is organizing a New Year’s Day wrestling clinic to raise funds for the Mytych family. Wrestling coach and enthusiast Pat Mineo announced on his official X handle, ‘The Wrestling Room (Pat Mineo),’ that, “All funds raised will be donated to the Mytych family during this difficult time. Praying for you all, @SteveMytychRU!” This clinic will be real proof of the iron will of the wrestling community, as well as a huge step toward the Mytychs during this difficult period.

Steve’s wife also penned a heartfelt note on Facebook and thanked the staff for taking good care of Mercedes. She also added, “She (Mercedes Mytych) is in a lot of pain and unfortunately isn’t allowed to have any visitors. We just ask to keep her in your thoughts and prayers, and we will try to keep you all updated! ❤️❤️🙏🏽🙏🏽. But the parent and coach duties might clash.”

Steve Mytych, a seasoned NCAA wrestling coach, has demonstrated the resilience needed to navigate the challenges of simultaneously acting as a coach and dealing with the difficulties of personal life. Currently, he is serving as an assistant coach for the Rutgers Scarlet Knights, and the road to his near future seems to be tough. The NCAA wrestling championship is approaching and scheduled to be held from March 20-22 at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, PA, and he is dealing with this traumatic incident involving his daughter.
