Since the NCAA Wrestling declared the contact window open for the 2026 recruiting class, all eyes have been on famous internet personality, Bo Bassett. While it is certain that Bishop McCort Catholic junior could be the first pick for any college, the young American has not yet revealed where he is planning to head. However, considering his plans for 2023, the ideal place for the 2024 PIAA Class 2A title could be Penn State Wrestling.

Moreover, the electrifying American’s high school is in Johnstown too which means Penn State could be the ideal place for him. But that does not mean, he is short of options!Bassett’s resume fits Penn State but why’s that so? Well… that’s because former UFC fighters Bo Nickal and Patrick Cummins graduated from the same institute! Does that mean Bassett is planning a career in mixed martial arts and follow the footsteps of Penn State Aluminis?

Is Bo Bassett considering a career in UFC?

Back in May 2023, while speaking to Cayden Henschel and Crosby Schlosser of the Clash of Combat podcast on YouTube, Bassett revealed some UFC guys had approached him! Although the American was initially doubtful of facing a scam, things turned out to be in his favor.

“He interviewed me asking about UFC and stuff and I was like, ‘Why not?’,” Bassett revealed what he said to the guy who approached him on Instagram. The U17 world championship title winner continued and added, “We talked a lot about the Penn State guys that are transitioning… It’s cool because like my name’s there and it’s like Bo Nickel and it’s like Roman Bravo-Young…”

Penn State is notoriously known to have generated some of the best wrestlers and MMA fighters of all time. Phil Davis, Ed Ruth, Bo Nickal, Roman Bravo-Young, and numerous other stars have the Pennsylvania tag on their shirt!

While Bassett may be often talking about Penn State, the American joining other colleges can not be ruled out. With the Magic Man David Taylor being part of Oklahoma State’s wrestling team as head coach, Bo could join the former Penn State student too. And The Wrestling Room’s Pat Mineo’s recent X post suggested something similar!

Earlier this week, The Wrestling Room’s Pat Mineo shared a post on X revealing that 29 colleges have approached Bassett. Although the American wrestler marked Rutgers with a star, another highlighting name on the list was of No. 27 Oklahoma State.“DT (David Taylor) finally!!!” was the note beside Oklahoma State’s name. Now the big question is did Bo Bassett drop a hint of adoring former Olympic gold medalist?
