Few characters in the country’s collegiate wrestling circuit can match AJ Ferrari’s level of eccentricity. From being an NCAA champion to being disqualified from the coveted Soldier Salute tournament, Ferrari has done it all. After a horror car crash ended his 2022 season, Ferrari has remained without a squad for quite some time but might be finally making his highly anticipated return soon!
Over the past weeks, Ferrari has been spotted training hard as well as pondering an MMA debut. However, it looks like a change in plans might be in order as AJ continues to give hints of returning to NCAA wrestling for his remaining eligibility years.
In his recent Instagram story, the 2021 Big Ten champ stirred the speculative thinking once again by sharing a thunderous new announcement. “This 2024-2025 season will be electric,” wrote AJ in his IG story as he can be seen surrounded by a large group of aspiring wrestlers. To add more thrill to the story, Ferrari made a bombshell revelation. “I am coming back to college wrestling,” said the 22-year-old, and noted the electric Mr. Fast Twitch will soon be seen on the mat again.

As a member of the Oklahoma State Cowboys, Ferrari wrestled for only two years (2020-2022), before the fateful car crash put a temporary halt on his journey. However, last month, AJ once again stirred the pot by hinting that he could make a return to the NCAA scene with the aim of taking on four-time national champ Carter Starocci of Penn State. However, it seems like fans will still have to wait a while to see if AJ’s career trajectory takes a new path in the coming days.

A considerable time left to make things right
Ferrari still has three years of eligibility left in his hand. If his plans go according to his wishes, AJ will have plenty of time to make up for the lost time and etch his legacy in gold. From 2020 to 2022, Ferrari accumulated a formidable record, winning matches against some star wrestlers. If he can indeed compete for another three years, it’s safe to say that his resume will become quite the thing to behold.
While Iowa is certainly at the top of Ferrari’s list as the camp with which to make his comeback, there are many other options that could be excellent choices.

David Taylor, Penn State alum and Olympic gold medalist, moved to OSU after he crashed out of the team trials for the upcoming Games last month. While the decision didn’t sit well with many NLWC wrestlers, fans of the spot are understandably excited to see how the changed scenario impacts the country’s scene. Taylor will obviously try his best to bring down his alma mater from its high pedestal to prove that even Cael Sanderson is human and isn’t beyond his limitations. With Taylor behind him, Ferrari would do well if he chooses to join hands with the Olympian for the final lap of his career.
On the other hand, Iowa has been on a spending spree to add depth to its attacking roster to ensure that Penn State faces proper competition this time around. With Iowa being where AJ has been putting in the hours for months, it waits to see what the future holds for the celebrity wrestler in the coming days.
