The U23 World Wrestling Championship returned to Albania on October 23. The disappointment for the USA from last year will possibly be not repeated this year. On the very first day, the USA dominated the sport. Three of Team USA’s wrestlers have entered the finals. Last year it was not able to get any gold at the championship. With their dominating performance on the opening day, there is a chance that the USA will keep this performance up. And stay at the top of the standings.

Kegan O’ Toole the 2021 U20 World Champion, is leading the pack with Aaron Brooks and Wyatt Hendrickson, are the first three finalists getting closer to the golden glory at the championship. While men’s wrestling is dominating the charts, women’s wrestling is looking forward to leading the medal tally at the Championship. The two-time senior world champion will be looking forward to a golden victory in the U23 championship.

In the same interview with AA.com, she said, “The weight classes for the world championships are different than the weight classes for the Olympics. There’s less for the Olympics. And so that is a challenge for me to figure out what weight is best for my body.” 72 kg division doesn’t exist in the Olympics, it is either 68 kg or 78 kg. In an interview with Olympic.com, she said that she might go to 68 kg for the Olympics.

Since she is on the lighter side of the 72 kg, going to 68 seems like a better option to her. There is still a lot of winning that she needs to do before making the Olympic roster for Team USA. But she is a champion who isn’t afraid to put in the work. A gold at the U23 Championship will put her in a much stronger position for the Paris Olympics 2024.
