The USA wrestling community cannot get enough of the Magicman. The men’s 86 kg champion has already sent waves after the title win against Hassan Yazdani of Iran. Following this win, he has a title to defend at the Paris Olympics 2024. With his game experience and skill, he poses a great dominance in his division. David Taylor, often dubbed Magicman, seems to be looking forward to transferring his wrestling knowledge to his successors. Recently, he shared a glimpse of a podcast on his Instagram account. Giving a summary of the podcast, Taylor wrote, As an athlete when your sole focus is winning or losing its easy to lose perspective on the bigger picture. Competition is the best opportunity to test the skills & techniques you develop in practice. Especially young athletes – it’s a long journey ahead – mistakes are the quickest and easiest way to learn!”

Clearly, his focus was on a shift from just trying to win to developing skills of the respective sport. And In the conversation with one of his athletes in his M2 training center, Taylor mentioned the same. “I am like hey…It’s not about winning…I really don’t care if you win the tournament…or place 1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th, 8th…I don’t care…I just care about your development”, he said. Putting time and effort into the training and being disciplined is one key to becoming good at wrestling. Taylor in his podcast said that he gave this advice to a kid, and he went on to perform a very good run.
