All-American wrestler Travis Wittlake’s start as an OSU Beaver took a stumble days after he transferred from Oklahoma. A near-fatal accident off-court prompted Wittlake to be transported to Salem Hospital where a team of doctors quickly contained the damage. While Wittlake is in stable condition now, his new squad awaits rubbing shoulders with Wittlake.

Wittlake was in action last Friday in his match against No. 1 Penn State. While he didn’t win the match, Wittlake was expected to get the hang of things in the following weeks. However, while working on his Dodge truck on Sunday, Travis suffered a critical leg injury after a jack gave way. As his fans wait eagerly to see him back in action, Beavers HC Chris Pendleton has come up with some assuring news.

In a post on X, formerly Twitter, the official Oregon State Wrestling account has issued a team statement, led by the words of their coach Chris Pendleton. “We are grateful for the care that Travis has received so far and will be here to support him during his recovery“, commented Pendleton, as Wittlake’s new teammates look forward to the exciting times ahead together as a unified team. The statement also made it clear that, although Travis’ injury isn’t going to put a halt to his professional wrestling career, his route back to the top is a long and winding one nonetheless.

Pendleton also said, “On behalf of Travis, his family, and our athletic department, we appreciate the support and well wishes from Beaver Nation and the wrestling community“. Being trapped under a pickup truck isn’t an experience to look forward to, and the former Oklahoma poster boy will need all the support he can get on his recovery journey ahead. Meanwhile, his wrestling legacy makes him someone to watch out for.
