Michigan Wrestling had their hands full with the transfers. Over the weekend, one of USA’s exciting wrestling prospects made his way into the team. Wrestling at 125 pounds, the lightweight is listed as a grad transfer. The All-American graduated twice from Northwestern University. Michigan got him in the transfer window as the Wolverines are packing up and getting ready for the upcoming season.
Wrestling runs in this family for the young grad. His Grandfather and father both have their names inducted into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame. Continuing this legacy, he went 15-6 and finished fourth in his weight category, nationally in the 2021-22 season.

While the Wolverines are getting ready for the 2023-24 season, they hope that DeAugstino will contribute significantly to their high performance. The wrestler himself seems to think along the same line. In an exclusive interview shared on the Michigan Wrestling X account, DeAugustino said, “I definitely feel like the best is yet to come in my wrestling career.”

Wrestling at 125 pounds next season Michael is one of the top prospects at his weight, with Pat Glory (Princeton) and Liam Cronin (Nebraska). They will be a tough competition for him as they all eye the Championship titles in the coming season. DeAugustino made the 2023 NCAA Wrestling Championship but was eliminated after going 1-2 during the tournament. He earned his second All-American honors for the second time in 2021-22.

Wrestling with The Wolverines
The Wolverines have improved at the NCAAs after a fifth-place team finish. They went 11-4 during the 2022-23 and in Big Ten, they went 5-3. Signing up Michael DeAugustino proved to be a vital decision by Michigan in this performance. All the eyes will be on him. However, he has his eyes set on the NCAA title and will be looking forward to a victorious season.

Michigan has garnered the champions of the sport, champion wrestlers like Nick Suriano, Stevan Mićić, Myles Amine, and Dennis Fitzgerald.
