Ups and downs are a major part of sports, but overcoming the downs to shine on the volleyball court is what matters. The secret to standing tall even after a setback is to follow the path of our dreams. The TCU Horned Frogs have embarked on their 2023–24 campaign, securing victory after victory in their first 14 matches.
However, the unforeseen injuries blew their winning streak, leading to four losses. After the unfortunate forfeiture of two matches last week, with resilience, the team has regrouped and devised some new strategies to secure success. The notable roster, Sarah Sylvester, has boasted fresh energy and talent just by following her dreams.

She emerged as a star player in TCU volleyball by representing powerful serves and spikes. Even after an unexpected transition to the basketball court, the athlete showcased a valuable addition to the team for the remainder of the 2023–24 season. Her closeness to basketball is deeply rooted in Livonia, Michigan, where her skills were sharpened during her high school years at Marian High School in Bloomfield Hills.
The emerging player exhibited a commendable point average of 11.3, 7.5 rebounds, and 2.5 blocks per game during her senior year. Yet her journey toward the volleyball arena started after high school. After her incredible dip in the team’s win, TCU staged a comeback against UCF with a final score of 66-60. The resurgence of the Horned Frogs was cemented more when Sylvester navigated the court with precision. Her confidence was as impactful as her three-pointer at the end of the third quarter.
TCU Volleyball collective effort, including Sylvester
Not only Sylvester but also several other athletes came forward to showcase their power-play to take the team forward. With a leading charge, the Horned Frogs‘ Aaliyah Roberson also delivered an impressive point of 17. Then came Sydney Harris with 14 points, followed by Una Jovanovic with 11 points. Even after the inclusion of new faces, the TCU demonstrated its adaptability and cohesion on the stage.
