Few people can match the energy of AJ Ferrari when it comes to taking something apparently mundane and giving it a glow-up. With the former Oklahoma Cowboys star announcing his return to collegiate wrestling only a few days ago, fans are excited to see what fate has in store for AJ. Still, whatever happens, it looks like the 22-year-old is making sure he stays in his best shape, wherever his calling lies.

Ferrari loves to show off snippets from his training sessions. For one, it gives him the perfect opportunity to focus on his prowess and athleticism and keep his opponents in attention. Now, Ferrari took to social media once again to highlight how his long-awaited return to the mat is shaping up.

In his latest Instagram story, AJ shared BTS scenes from his recent training session at the Liberty High School gymnasium in Iowa. Training with Vincenzo Lima at the Bolts’ compound, Ferrari looks ripped and ready to take on everyone. For the inquisitive, Ferrari’s shorts should also be a point of interest, considering how he has been linked with one of the country’s top wrestling programs for several months.

From training at Iowa’s gym to fans expecting Ferrari to become a Hawkeye upon his return to the NCAA scene, AJ has always had an inclination toward Tom Brands’ squad. Keeping that in mind, seeing Ferrari train with black and golden shorts in the latest IG story series can also be highly indicative of the over-enthusiastic fans.

Since the horrific car crash in 2022, Ferrari has remained mostly on the sidelines despite his rigorous recovery journey. Now, while he is yet to settle on which program he will be joining for the second round of his NCAA career, here’s how things can shape up to make his comeback a nightmare.

AJ Ferrari could have some heavy-lifters standing on his way

The 2024-25 NCAA season will begin soon, and the nation’s top recruiters are scurrying to add more talent to their roster for a thrilling showdown. Among the bigshots, Penn State is undoubtedly the biggest name with its three consecutive NCAA team title wins in a row. Naturally, schools like Iowa are looking to do everything in their power to try and take down Cael Sanderson & Co., and the Hawkeyes’ fighting mentality is being fueled by their new training facility as well. Justifiably, Iowa could be the way forward for Ferrari should he look to get back to the top level of collegiate wrestling by taking down the elite wrestlers of the NLWC.

His NCAA wrestling can also benefit from his extensive training under the tutelage of active marine Jordan More. Furthermore, taking into account that the four-time individual NCAA champ Carter Starocci, who Ferrari would like to take on upon his return, was also seen training with UFC star Bo Nickal, a locking of horns between Starocci and Ferrari should also be on the table, should the two compete in the same weight bracket.

On the other hand, the addition of Olympic gold medalist David Taylor to its staff will also significantly benefit OSU’s chances of doing well in the NCAA Championships at the end of the upcoming season. With so many factors to consider, only time will tell if Ferrari’s ambitions of being remembered as an elite collegiate wrestler are fulfilled or if the dark void of oblivion is what awaits his fate.
