The US is one of the biggest powerhouses when it comes to wrestling. Despite wrestling being one of the most ancient sports prevalent all around the world, the US established its supremacy, nonetheless. Along similar lines, Cornell University recently tweeted an image showcasing their stellar feat of producing six gold and silver medals for the US.

According to the tweet, “Proud of the 6 World Championship Gold and Silver medals for Cornell wrestlers from September 2022-September 2023. #usa #yellcornell #gobigred #familynotfactory.”

The staunch achievement of Cornell University’s wrestling unit displays their unending commitment to achieving as well as maintaining excellence. The winning wrestlers showcased by Cornell University included Kyle Dake, Vito Arujau, Yianni Diakomihalis, Jacob Cardenas, and Meyer Shapiro.

The university showed off its global dominance in the 61kg, 64kg, 70kg, 74kg, and 92kg weight classes. While Dake led the charge for Cornell, he lost the 2023 gold medal to Russia’s Zaurbek Sidakov by three points. However, Dake will now head to the Olympics to take back his throne. Two-time NCAA All-American Zane Richards recently failed to meet the qualifying weight for the Paris Olympics. While he could have easily cruised to the Olympics, his claim to Paris can now be challenged.

Cornell University’s Vito Arujau and Yianni Diakomihalis can request to challenge Richards for his qualifying spot in the Olympic trials. If either of them successfully wrestles off Richards, they will instantly qualify as the top seed at the Olympic trials. If Richards loses his claim, Cornell University will get one more Olympic candidate aside from Kyle Dake.
