The 2023 Senior World Wrestling Championship is currently underway in Belgrade, Serbia at the Stark Arena. The competition and the spree to clinch the ticket to Paris are at their highest peak. Wrestlers from across the globe are combating each other to board the train to the French Capital. While some stood atop the podium, others inched the previous standing records to clinch the glory.
Along similar lines, 24-year-old American freestyle and folkstyle wrestler, Vito Arujau secured the triumph and is now only one World Champion title away to match his father, Vugar Orujov’s record.
Vito Arujau Won the 2023 Senior World Championship

The 24-year-old American wrestler Vito Arujau won the 2023 Wrestling Senior World Champion in the 61 category by trouncing the Russain Abasgadzhii Magomedov. Arujau’s competed with full dominance in the hard-fought match with his defender.
The match was neck-to-neck, as both the contenders were equally strong. It wasn’t an easy win, as Magomedov had the 2021 Wrestling World Championship title and posed a staunch competition to Vito.
Interestingly, following the match, the United World wrestling shared the glimpse of Arujau’s wrestling montage with his Russian counterpart Magomedov. In the caption, UWW penned, “Vito ARUJAU followed in his father’s footsteps. He won 61kg world gold earlier this week and is now one world title shy from matching his dad.”

Vito won the title with a score of 10-9. The tussle between the two fighters was a close bout in the first period. Then, Vito attempted a chest wrap successfully and owned exposure points. However, during the waning seconds of the match, Arujau stepped out and was called for a caution and one, in addition to the step out. That only impacted the final score as Arujau fended off any further attacks from Magomedov to win 10-9.
Vito follows his father’s footsteps
Vito brings glory to his home after his splendid victory. He now becomes the second successive member of his family to receive the trophy in the World Wrestling Championship. He is ardently and religiously following his father’s footsteps. This industrious wrestler is ready to wrestle with full enthusiasm to go ahead and maintain his father’s legacy.
His dad, Vugar Orujov competed in both the 1992 Summer Olympics, where he competed for the Unified Team, and the 1996 Summer Olympics, taking third and fourth respectively.
France will host the upcoming Olympics in 2024 in Paris. Vito is all set to follow his father’s roadmap for success. It would be a matter of great interest to witness him in next year’s Olympics.
