It is hard to overlook the latent excitement. 2023 hasn’t been a great year for Snyder. The World Championships in Belgrade didn’t yield satisfactory results and Snyder is itching to make his mark among the elites in the year’s first senior ranking tournament.
The 2016 Rio Olympics gold medalist Maroulis also won a bronze in Belgrade. Both Maroulis and Snyder also appeared on the UWW’s year-end lists. While they haven’t appeared at the top of their weight classes, the upset rankings should work as the perfect trigger for both of them to up their games further. And it’s not only their opponents who they need to subdue to confirm their spot on the national team or the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Along with Maroulis and Snyder, there are several other Olympians who will be among the 47 American wrestlers. Thomas Gilman, Olympic medalist, and former World Champion, will be competing in the 57kg weight class. Olympic silver medal winner and an impressive six-time World champ, Adeline Gray, will also grace the team with her presence.

Team USA will be among the biggest delegations in the tournament and it’s expected that at least a few medals should make their way to the country at the end of the event.
