The Nittany Lions Wrestling Club is easily one of the country’s most renowned hotspots for nurturing future talents. The coveted club has a long association with Penn State, and they are again on their way to bringing more glory to the country and the iconic wrestling institution. According to the latest team news for the upcoming Pan Am Championships, the NLWC is bracing up as four of their biggest stars are headed to Acapulco, Mexico.

The club’s head coach Cael Sanderson recently acknowledged that 2024 will pose major challenges for the club for being an Olympic year. However, it looks like Sanderson can take a breather as the likes of Kyle Snyder are named from the NLWC contingent to represent the USA next month.

According to UWW’s (United World Wrestling) list of entrants for the 2024 Pan Am Championships, Team USA looks like a formidable force with 32 of the country’s best named for the upcoming event. While the national squad looks incredible as it is, no one is probably happier than the folks over at the NLWC. Among the names that would be representing the Nittany Lions in Mexico is Kyle Snyder (97kg). Snyder is a five-time PanAm Championships gold medalist, along with being an Olympic gold winner. Snyder’s accolades also include three golds at the World Championships, and three NCAA wins.

The list also boasts the name of four-time World Championships gold winner Kyle Dake. While Dake’s collegiate career saw him representing Cornell, he decided to join the NLWC after his gold-winning run in Belgrade in 2022. Having Dake on the team will only add more depth to the team’s attacking and fans can hope for at least one medal coming their way in the 74kg weight class.

NLWC’s representation at next month’s tournament will be enhanced by the appearance of the 2022 U20 Pan Am Games champion Alex Facundo. The sophomore will be competing in the 79kg weight class. Last, but not least, two-time NCAA champ Roman Bravo-Young of the NLWC is set to represent Mexico in the 57kg category at the Pan Am Championships.
