“We’re gonna create our own little magic down here,” said David Taylor after joining Oklahoma State University last year. Among the wrestlers who helped Taylor create that magic was one of the nation’s top 165-pounders, Cameron Amine. In a rare move, Amine donned the Cowboy wrestling attire with just one year of eligibility left but still managed to finish among the top 10 wrestlers in the nation.
Now, after 5 seasons of collegiate wrestling, the Division 1 wrestler has bid adieu to college wrestling. “Thank you, college wrestling for all the memories,” Amine wrote on social media. The former Michigan University wrestler was thankful for all the people he met along the way. Yet, the wrestler didn’t see everything through rose-tinted glasses.
Cameron Amine captured his fourth All-American title and helped propel Cowboy wrestling from 10th to 3rd in the national championships. Unfortunately, his dream of capturing the national title remained unfulfilled. “This journey has been a crazy one. To fall short of a dream of mine since I first started at 3 years old has been a hard one to deal with,” wrote the wrestler.

However, that’s not to say the wrestler didn’t enjoy his journey to becoming one of the top wrestlers in his division. “That’s the sport of wrestling. It’s brutal, difficult and fun all at the same time and I wouldn’t change anything!” added the NCAA Division 1 wrestler. Cameron Amine also didn’t forget the community that made his wrestling journey special in the first place.
@CameronAmine , you are a champion on and off the mats. What a college and academic career !!!
A 4x All American as well as a degree from both Michigan and OSU @CowboyWrestling earning academic All American as well. 💪🏽🙌🏽🇺🇸 pic.twitter.com/4NyEGZ69f2— #TEAMAMINE ~Do good by serving others ! (@mike_amine) March 27, 2025
Amine found the fans had his back whether he wrestled for Michigan or Oklahoma. Despite spending so many years at Michigan, the fans didn’t hold a grudge against him just because he transferred to OSU in his final year. And both David Taylor and the Cowboys accepted him when he arrived in Stillwater. And this spirit of acceptance was most evident in the comments section.
The wrestling community lauded the Cowboy wrestling star
Oklahoma wrestling fans showed they were grateful that the experienced college wrestler chose to go out wearing an orange jersey on the national stage. “Great career buddy, so glad you came to Stilly & we got to know you and your family!! Great people,” one fan congratulated the now-former 165 lbs contender.

Amine’s family proved exactly why the community loved them, in the comments. “My amazing nephew: You’ve accomplished so much more than anyone. We are all so proud and honored. Keep soaring my love,” commented the Cowboy wrestling star’s aunt, Hoda Amine. While her nephew felt bad for falling short against the ever-successful Penn State‘s Mitchell Mesenbrink in the quarterfinals this year, the 165-pounder’s family is no less proud of his achievements.
What an incredible journey, Cameron Amine! It’s been an absolute pleasure watching you through the years,” said another loyal fan. “You are a champion in every sense of the word. I am beyond proud of you and all your accomplishments,” the wrestling enthusiast added.
The fan also pledged continued support, looking forward to what the wrestler does in the future. “Can’t wait to see what the future holds. Let’s GO! Love you,” encouraged the fan. There’s a good reason why the netizen felt so excited for what’s to come. While Cameron Amine didn’t exactly spill the beans on what he’ll do next, the former Cowboy did drop a telltale hint.

“This is not the end and I’m beyond excited for the future and to get back to work!!” the former Detroit Catholic Central High School wrestler concluded his post. One of those likely avenues could be mixed martial arts. After all, iconic college wrestlers such as Carter Starocci have shown interest in pursuing a career in the MMA, possibly making it to the UFC.
Yet the fans of the Cowboy wrestling alumnus are confident that the wrestler would succeed no matter which path he chooses next. “Kid is tough as nails and will succeed in anything he does in life,” commented one wrestling enthusiast. Meanwhile, some fans were equally impressed with the former college wrestler’s academic resume as they were with his wrestling accolades.

“What were the degrees Cam received? Impressive and quite an accomplishment to have two degrees from two schools,” asked one fan. The wrestler gave the deets on his LinkedIn. The All-American earned a degree in sports management from Michigan and later “adventured” to OSU to complete his master’s program in management.
Yet, that’s not all. The Cowboy wrestling star didn’t just go through the motions when it came to academics. Cameron Amine’s academic stats are just as impressive as his wrestling ones. As per his official OSU page, the NCAA athlete made it to the NWCA Scholar All-American and Academic All-Big Ten teams four years in a row. Talk about being an all-rounder. Yet, now with his NCAA journey coming to an end, what do you think Amine will do next? Write your views in the comments.
