The Olympic Games are only months away, and USA’s wrestling team is eyeing another stellar show on the grand stage. The recently concluded Zagreb Open saw Team USA making a decisive statement with the athletes’ incredible performances on the mat, and their heroics are being hailed across the country. Now, three more 2023 World Championships medalists are set to ignite the Olympic fire once again as the Michigan Wolverines prepare to honor their exploits in Belgrade.
In a recent social media post, the Wolverines’ head wrestling coach Sean Bormet looked proud as he announced the team’s plans to commemorate the success of three of their athletes. Bormet revealed that the Michigan campus will host Olympic Night tomorrow, where Mason Parris, Stevan Micic, and Myles Amine will be honored for their stellar performances in Serbia last year.

In his latest Instagram story, Bormet, who is currently spending his sixth season with Michigan’s wrestling team, shed light on big plans for tomorrow. The 2023 World Championships have been a true event to remember for the Wolverines. Thanks to the podium finish of three of their former students, the Wolverines marked 2023 as their most successful world performance in the history of the program.
“We’re honoring our 3 2023 World Medalists“, reads the story of Bormet. The Michigan Wolverines are slated to take on the mighty Penn State Nittany Lions in a dual tomorrow, but ahead of the bouts, fans can take a moment to mingle with three of Michigan’s most celebrated wrestlers, announced Bormet.
The Big Ten duals have understandably created a lot of hype, given the two teams are among the country’s best at the moment. However, the prospect of interacting directly with the world champions is a chance that no young wrestling fan would want to walk past. According to Bormet’s information, Micic, Parris, and Amine will also take time to sign autographs at the Crisler Center from 5 to 5:45 pm. The three stars have brought uncharted glory to Michigan with their brilliant display of skills in Belgrade last year.

For Myles Amine and Mason Parris, the 2023 World Championships recorded their first-ever senior-level medals in the 86kg and 125kg categories, respectively. While all three of them are Michigan alums, it is only Parris who was directly trained by Bormet during his collegiate days.
