The future of Oklahoma State wrestling just got even brighter. Jax Forrest, #2 prospect on the 2026 Big Board, has officially committed to the Cowboys, joining an already stacked recruiting class. The Bishop McCort talent confirmed his decision on February 6th, after narrowing his choices to Oklahoma State, Iowa, Penn State, and Ohio State. Jax Forrest’s decision reverberated throughout the wrestling community, bolstered by an exceptional CV with a PIAA Class 2A title, two Fargo Junior Freestyle titles, and a U17 World silver medal.

And it didn’t take long for one of OSU’s biggest names to react. On February 6th, fellow OSU commit Dreshaun Ross wasted no time celebrating Forrest’s move. Ross took to Instagram Stories, posting a shoutout with a simple but powerful message, “Enough Said. @jaxforrest_” Then Jax Forrest reshared it in a jiffy on his Instagram, showing the bond these two future Cowboys are already forming. It’s obvious that OSU’s newest commits are absorbing the team culture before even stepping foot on campus, there’s so much more to come.

Dreshaun Ross, a two-time Iowa state champion is the #3 recruit of the Class of 2026 and an impressive football prospect, committed to Oklahoma State on January 28th. Interestingly, his decision to join OSU over Iowa, Iowa State, and Penn State came after David Taylor had traveled to see him wrestle at the Ed Winger Invitational. And guess what? Ross made short work of the 215 pound bracket winning 4-0 thanks to two pins and a couple of technical falls. With Ross, and Forrest, it seems like Taylor only wants the best.

What’s more? The Cowboys also landed 2026 Big Board #22 Kellen Wolbert in December. The two-time Wisconsin state champion and Fargo champion has an impressive 89-2 high school record. And although he competes in the 138-pound bracket in his high school, reports suggest that he may move up to 141 or 149 for the Cowboys.

Now, with these two blue-chip recruits who are locked in, OSU fans are going crazy. The connection between Forrest and Ross is already visible, and their shared happiness about joining the Cowboys is already making the rounds. However, do all top prospects find the Cowboy pull to be irresistible?

As Jax Forrest commits, Cowboys fail to land his schoolmate

Jaxx Forrest’s commitment wasn’t something out of the blue. Oklahoma State had been a strong contender for months, especially with head coach David Taylor personally involved in the recruitment process. Taylor was even spotted at Bishop McCort High School ahead of Forrest’s announcement, fueling speculation that OSU was the favorite. Now, with Jax officially on board, Taylor’s aggressive recruiting approach is paying off in a big way. But while David Taylor might have been instrumental in landing Forrest, for his Bishop McCort schoolmate Bo Bassett, Olympic silver medalist Spencer Lee perhaps had the stronger pull.

When asked by FloWrestling about who his favorite wrestler is, the Super 32 champion did not take much time to think: “I gotta go Spencer Lee. That’s my guy. I looked up to him since I was young.” Naturally, once this revelation was made, the Iowa wrestling community started speculating that he would join Lee’s alum University of Iowa to continue his wrestling career under 3x NCWA Coach of the Year Tom Brands. And guess what? They were spot on.

Cut to a few days later, and 3x Ironman Champion announced that he had chosen Iowa over OSU, Penn State, and Virginia Tech. In an X video shared by Saturday Night Lights, Bo, already clad in an Iowa Hawkeyes sweatshirt, said, “I started wrestling; Iowa was always my favorite team. And I don’t know why I just love the way they wrestle. They’re very similar to the McCort Room, right?” After all, it was what he learned at McCort under his father and coach Bill Bassett that won him the U17 World Championship in 2021. So, to have chosen a similar environment wasn’t the worst call, was it?

However, despite not being able to land Bassett, OSU’s recruitment game has been strong. With Ross and Forrest in the lineup, the Cowboys seem future-ready. But what do you think about OSU’s additions? Let us know in the comments.
