However, every time he’s on the mat, he never gets crushed under the strain. How so? He has always trusted his faith to guide his path in life, bashing critics in the process.

Bo Bassett’s beliefs keep him positive

Everyone has their way of leading life. Bo Bassett, he’s a religious person. Bo Bassett maintains a strong religious belief and not only trusts in divine intervention but also works hard to maintain his efforts. Yes, the Bishop McCort High School wrestler always credits his faith for his success in life and never fails to acknowledge the ones he has his belief in.

During the post-match interview after winning his third Powerade Wrestling Tournament, Bassett was asked about the social media influence, to which he replied, “I think if there is, it’s taken away by my faith. I wear Jesus on my chest because I wholeheartedly got there only for him. I know with the Lord, anything is possible, and whatever happens is a part of God’s plan, and I’m ready for it. And I know that I work extremely hard, so if I win, great, and if I don’t, then I’m gonna keep working hard.”

Bassett posted this video on his Instagram, and the 17-year-old’s intentions were clear enough. His faith has pushed him far in not only his wrestling career but in life, and he trusts the divine. He’s positive about the occurrences but never shies away from working on his skills, honing himself to be a better version. Yes, he’s a hard worker, and by keeping his head up, he keeps a positive mentality on the mat. 

Indeed, the season is long, and Bassett hasn’t lost his path. There’s a lot of action ahead in the high school scene, and while he’s proud of his accomplishments thus far, he’s yearning for more. Why so? He is aware of his status as a top prospect, and he needs these victories to make a strong impression on a major college, thereby kicking off his NCAA career in style. However, the wrestler is very close to his father, Bill Bassett, who is also the coach in his high school. But is he aware of his social media presence, and does it cause him concern about his son’s future?

A father’s perception of his rising wrestling star

Watching his son performing at the top of his game is a sight to behold for Bill Bassett. He knows how important these maturing years are for him and his career, and he’s glad he’s stepping up on his form. However, Bill is also aware of Bo Bassett’s growing social media influence, but what’s his mentality towards it?

Talking to WIN Magazine, he revealed, stating, “Bo does a really good job with time management. I mean, he does a good job of setting time aside for it, and I mean, you guys saw, I mean, he’s still wrestling pretty darn good, so, you know, if his wrestling is not dropping, I mean, to me, I think, you know, I think it’s a great thing; I think he’s changing a sport; I think, you know, a lot of little kids, a lot of new parents are looking up to him and learning a lot from him, and I know what if he was a little kid and, you know, somebody was doing that when he was younger, he would’ve been locked into it.”

Indeed, times have changed, and it’s something Bill acknowledges. He doesn’t mind his son getting his followers up on social media and trying to become a sensation in the online world, and why so? Bill doesn’t mind, as Bo’s performance remains unaffected. Furthermore, he realized that his son was changing the sport by inspiring many youngsters out there to become like him. Bill has full trust in his child, and he has been a vital part of Bo’s upbringing to become one of the best wrestling talents in the United States.
