Collegiate wrestlers aren’t new to injuries on the mat. However, sometimes, their tryst with accidents doesn’t always conclude with their life on the mat coming to an end. For ex-Penn State wrestler, and current MMA fighter, Gavin Teasdale, an unexpected bolt from the blue has left his fans in shock.
The Dave Schultz Awar winner and the former Pennsylvania Wrestler of the Year transferred to Iowa after a brilliant run with the Penn State Nittany Lions. As a Hawkeye, Teasdale has also fared considerably well. However, his fans were flummoxed as news of Gavin’s serious condition surfaced online, showing his scars.

In his recent post on X, the former Penn State, and later Iowa, wrestler shared his dire health condition apparently from a hospital bed. Captioned “God was with me once again. Had a lot of close calls.” Teasdale also opened his MMA account with a win after leaving amateur wrestling two years ago.

While Teasdale doesn’t seem to be at his best, he seems to be in good hands. However, this wouldn’t be the first time Gavin was faced with a serious accident. In 2021, Gavin was also involved in a vehicular accident, that resulted in significant neck injury. That year, he wasn’t on the roster of any college and his road back to the ring wasn’t easy. After his stepover to MMA, Teasdale faded away from the collegiate wrestling scene. Yet, it looks like he isn’t forgotten by wrestling loyalists just yet.
Fans lend a shoulder in troubled times
Sports enthusiast Hunter said Gavin has nothing to look forward to right now instead of trying to recover from the daunting injury. “Heal up, brother!“, said the fan after the wrestler’s post surfaced online. Teasdale’s 162-2 record made him one of the most prominent high school wrestlers. Understandably, his fans don’t want to see him make an exit from the scene just now.
Heal up, brother! 🙏🙏

While it’s still unknown as to what came Teasdale’s way, images of his bloodied face have fans sending all the good vibes to the four-time Pennsylvania State champion. Offering good wishes, one user commented, “Thoughts and prayers your way Gavin.”

Another fan also feels like Gavin has been lucky with a higher power watching over the four-time high school wrestling team captain. “Thank God for the GRACE“, reads another comment under Gavin’s post.

Ryan still thinks Gavin will bounce back in no time, especially after having had to deal with worse situations, possibly referring to the accident from three years ago that pushed Teasdale to the sidelines for months. “Rest up, Gavin. Luckily this isn’t even CLOSE to the toughest challenge you’ve faced.”
Rest up, Gavin. Luckily this isn’t even CLOSE to the toughest challenge you’ve faced. Takedown this situation like all the others (I hope you appreciate the wording there brother!).
