Drake Ayala of Iowa is on the run for a third state title. Meanwhile, an addition to the Iowa roster brought significant joy to Drake. So much so that he went on saying, “It’s really cool!”

The Ayala Siblings have been wrestling since their school term. Now that Drake Ayala started the season with the University of Iowa as a sophomore. And now Dru Ayala will be joining his brother at the University of Iowa. Recently, in an Instagram post, Dru Ayala broke the news of committing to the University of Iowa. In the post, he said I’m excited to announce that I will be continuing my athletic and academic career at the University of Iowa. Go Hawks!”

Both the brothers transition into the Hawkeyes from the Fort Dodge in Iowa. They have left quite a mark through their wrestling. In an interview with weareiowa.com Dru talked about wrestling and his brother, who he wrestles with sometimes. Being the wrestling siblings, they are often both compared. This is something that Dru is not very fond of. In the interview, he said, “I have my own path, he has his.” Dru is here to do his own thing and take his wrestling career forward.

The Hawkeyes have given countless Olympians to the country. This is just a start for Dru Ayala. Despite the comparison with his brother Dru has his own game. In an interview with weareiowa.com Drake admitted that he hates the comparison and said “It’s not fair to him. He’s just here to make his own mark, I mean it’s cool we’re just our own people so it’s cool to watch him grow and just chase his dreams.”

 The move to the University of Iowa is going to play an instrumental role in my growth of Dru as a wrestler. It is going to be a great learning curve for him. Especially under the mentorship of a legendary coach like Tom Brands. The coach has an Olympic gold medal, a world title, and three NCAA championships in the kitty. The Hawkeyes couldn’t have asked for a better coach.

Both the Ayala brothers have inspired and cheered each other throughout their wrestling careers. As Dru commits to the Hawkeyes, it will be a treat to watch the Ayala siblings in action.
